Photo permits in the Sintra palaces
Professional photo sessions in the palaces and parks managed by Parques de Sintra, such as Pena, Monserrate and the Moorish Castle, need prior authorisation and a special ticket. Quinta da Regaleira is run by a different foundation and has its own rules. Beaches, viewpoints and the village streets are simpler. I tell you what each place requires and help you with the request, so there are no surprises on the day.
Light, weather and timing
Sintra has its own microclimate. On summer mornings the hills are often covered in fog, while the coast can be bright and sunny a few kilometres away. That is why I always plan a second location close by. The best light for portraits comes in the last hour before sunset, especially on the beaches facing west.
