How it works
- We talk about the purpose and the style: warm light, black and white or softer colours.
- We choose the location: outdoors in Sintra and on the coast, in Lisbon or at your home.
- During the session I guide your pose and expression, without rushing.

Portrait session in Sintra: where to shoot
Sintra has settings for almost every portrait style. In the woods of the hills, light filtered through the trees gives soft, intimate portraits. On the coast, between Praia da Adraga, Azenhas do Mar and Magoito, the late afternoon brings warm light and clean backgrounds of sea and cliffs. In the historic centre and around the palaces run by Parques de Sintra, there is stone, texture and colour for portraits with more character. If you prefer the city, Lisbon offers the river, the viewpoints and its tiled façades.
I can also do the portrait session at your home or workplace, when it makes sense to show your surroundings: a studio, a shop, a kitchen or a library says a lot about the person in it.
How to prepare for your portrait session
Wear clothes you feel good in and that do not distract: plain colours and neutral tones almost always work better than small patterns or logos. If you want variety, bring a second option, more formal or more relaxed. Keep your hair and make-up close to your everyday look, so you recognise yourself in the photos.
Before the session we talk about how you will use the images, as a gift, in print, on a website or on social media, so we choose the right format and framing. On the day I show you a few photos along the way, so we adjust pose and expression together. See more examples in the portrait portfolio and the guide what to wear for a photo session.
Frequently asked questions
How long is a portrait session?
About an hour, with time to try two or three setups and, if you like, a change of outfit. There is no rush: the session ends when we have photos you are happy with.
I am not photogenic. Will it work?
Almost everyone says that before we start. I give simple directions on pose, gaze and hands, and show you the photos during the session so we can adjust together.
How many photos do I get?
You receive a selection of edited, high-resolution photos in a private online gallery, ready to print or share.
Shall we book your portrait?
