A Burst of the Sea: Product Photography for Queda d’Água Restaurant
Capturing the essence of a seafood feast takes more than technique; it takes timing. In this session for the renowned Queda d’Água restaurant in Odivelas, the challenge was to convey the absolute freshness and abundance that define this local favourite.
The Creative Challenge
A seafood feast is a dance of textures, from the juicy shine of Bulhão Pato clams to the rich texture of stuffed crab. My aim was to use lighting that brought out the natural tones of the seafood, so every detail, the moisture of the ice, the steam rising from the garlic prawns and the vibrant colours of the seafood rice, would whet the viewer’s appetite.
Session Highlights:
- Textures in focus: macro photography to highlight the quality of the fresh produce.
- Dynamic composition: seafood platters arranged to convey the sense of sharing and abundance typical of the restaurant.
- Natural food styling: keeping artificial elements to a minimum to preserve the authenticity of the dishes that reach the table.
The result is a gallery that invites a visit, proving that in food photography the eyes are always the first to sit at the table.
